1. Fundamental optical model of pure and cloudy maritime atmosphere on the basis of long-term field measurements in the Atlantics, Pacific and Indian oceans and in the inner seas.

2. Modern universal theory of underwater imaging and imaging through rough sea surface, including methods of removal of image distortion caused by surface waves.
   Theory of light pulse propagation through three-layer medium (cloud-atmosphere-ocean) and of optical communication between satellite-borne and underwater objects.

3. A model for determination of spectral absorption, backscattering and attenuation coefficients in sea water from data of Secchi depth only.

4. Theory of determination of inner waves in water by use of pulsed lidar.

5. Algorithm for detection of oil films on sea surface and measurement of film thickness by use of airborne infrared lidar and TV-system; corroboration of the theory in flights over Black and Caspian Seas.

6. Laboratory installation for studying radiative and image transfer through rough water surface; experimental study of statistical parameters of fluctuating light field and images distorted by waves.

7. A new instruments for in-situ measurements of the scattering coefficient (turbidity) and attenuation coefficient in coastal and tap waters, and using them in the Black, Baltic and White Seas.
